Sequence
Do work in the correct order. Every concealed layer depends on what came before it.
A field-first guide to how buildings are planned, coordinated and built — step by step, because skipped checks can become life-safety failures.
Construction is a chain of decisions. When sequence, verification or responsibility is lost, defects can become life-safety failures.
This handbook began after architect Hazar Fazlı Ekşi volunteered across several cities in Türkiye’s earthquake region. Seeing damage, temporary housing needs and reconstruction work at close range made one principle impossible to ignore: safe buildings depend on thousands of correctly sequenced, checked and recorded decisions.
Its purpose is not to turn every reader into a construction professional. It is to make the logic of construction visible, the right questions easier to ask, and critical controls harder to skip.
Do work in the correct order. Every concealed layer depends on what came before it.
Inspect against approved information before work is covered, loaded or commissioned.
When site conditions conflict with the design, stop and obtain a responsible decision.
Photographs, measurements, test results and signatures turn memory into evidence.
Students can learn the full construction pathway. Architects and engineers can review coordination and hold points. Site teams can track checks and measurements. Clients and curious readers can understand why responsible construction requires time, documentation and qualified judgement.
